Theme: the future of manufacturing in the North West

Manufacturers are competing in a global marketplace, where labour costs are often significantly lower and companies are investing heavily in the latest technoogy. Many North West Companies have found that long-standing customer relationships only count for so much and when the cost differential gets big enough, business moves overseas.

So how can you win, how can you buck the trend? This is an exciting opportunity to hear and meet leading manufacturers and suppliers, to gain an insight into their manufacturing strategies, and where and how that will impact on their supply chains.

The event includes
  • keynote speakers from BAE Systems, Springfields Fuels, Renishaw and Festo
  • presentation on the opportunities offered by advanced technologies as well as the 'key drivers' and current future issues facing the sector
  • exhibitions of latest manufacturing technologies
  • networking opportunities with speakers and other manufacturing companies
  • opportunities to meet senior academic staff from UCLan and see facilities such as our visualisation Laboratory
